Baker McKenzie has advised Sunoco LP on its acquisition of the TanQuid Group through a competitive auction process. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval.

“Leveraging our global and cross-practice team, we supported Sunoco in this strategically important transaction, strengthening their presence in the European fuel distribution supply chain and enhancing reach to a high-quality customer base,” said Christian Atzler, co-lead partner on the transaction. Holger Engelkamp, co-lead partner on the transaction and Co-Head of Baker McKenzie's German Energy & Infrastructure team, added: “The acquisition also reflects the importance of infrastructure assets in the energy sector, where reliable storage and distribution networks play a key role in ensuring supply chain continuity and efficiency.”

Sunoco LP is North America’s largest independent fuel distributor and a leading operator of critical energy infrastructure. Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Sunoco LP supplies fuel to convenience stores, independent dealers, commercial customers, and wholesalers across more than 40 U.S. states, servicing approximately 10,000 locations. Sunoco has been a majority-owned subsidiary of Energy Transfer Partners, L.P. since 2012.

The TanQuid Group operates independent tank storage facilities across Central Europe, primarily serving the petrochemical industry. The company provides a comprehensive range of services, including storage and handling of products, strategic stockpiling, logistical engineering and consulting, and business management. The acquisition positions Sunoco to enhance its infrastructure capabilities and strengthen its foothold in the European energy market.
