Our Public Law department advises on privatization, public sector restructuring, economic regulation of key sectors, and public business law (contracts, liability, public domain, zoning and environmental law). This team works closely with our Real Estate lawyers to gain input on the real estate law and tax aspects of these projects.

Our  Dispute Resolution and Arbitration team represents clients in national and international business disputes before courts and arbitral tribunals, working with clients to develop the most appropriate litigation strategies.

Our Antitrust & Competition group advises clients on competition, distribution and consumer law in France and throughout Europe. Our assistance includes merger notifications, competition investigations and litigation before national and European authorities and courts.

Our Employment team assists clients in all areas of employment law, from upstream advice to protecting client interests in individual and collective disputes.

What We Look For

We offer internships in a variety of areas of law, welcoming candidates from the best universities and those with international experience. Our assessment process ensures associates’ are given the chance to achieve their potential and that their training needs are met. Associates will also hone core skills including researching, preparing draft consultations and participating in practice groups.

We are looking for associates with a CAPA (French Lawyer Diploma) and higher education experience in Business Law, candidates with a Master of Laws (LL.M) or Business school degrees. Candidates need to be fluent in our working language of English, while ability in other languages is desirable.

Inclusion, Diversity & Equity

• Inclusion & Diversity Committee: This committee meets quarterly to encourage innovative dialogue on diversity and inclusion in the legal sector.


• Partnership with SciencesPo's École de Droit, a three-year partnership designed to support equal opportunities through a scholarship of excellence, support for the Clinique de l'École de Droit projects, and funding for participation in international competitions and projects aimed at developing innovative practices.


• Collaboration with the start-up Mixity, which offers the first digital HR solution enabling organizations to assess, manage, measure and promote diversity and inclusion - with a 360-degree vision. The idea is to generate a social footprint on the five major elements of diversity: gender equality, disability, multi-generational, multi-cultural, gender identity / sexual orientation, LGBTQ+.


• Baker Pride + Allies Paris: Created in July 2023, this is an affinity network that develops and implements our Firm's LGBTQ+ actions. It ensures our adherence to the Firm's global LGBTQ+ policy, organizes local activities and liaises with ID&E Champions and our ID&E committee to align with the Paris office's inclusion goals. Our office is also an active member of AFA LGBT+, an organization that brings together LGBT+ lawyers in Paris.


• Parental leave for adoption: A new scheme introduced in 2024, supporting more inclusive parenting. Initiated by Baker Pride + Allies Paris, this measure extends rights to the non-parent spouse of male homosexual couples and improves adoption leave for all adoptive parents.
  We are proud to have signed the "Charter for the inclusion of LGBT+ people in law firms" on the occasion of the Paris Bar's LGBTI+ Day in June 2024. Recently voted unanimously by the


• Bar Council, this charter is the fruit of a collective effort spearheaded by the French Association of LGBT+ Lawyers (AFA LGBT+).


• Baker Women Paris: Internal and client meetings designed by women for women, bringing women together to discuss social issues relevant to our daily lives.


• Inclusive behavior in the workplace: training session in partnership with Théâtre à la Carte organized in November 2023 for all members of the Paris office to raise awareness of inclusive behavior in the workplace.

Pro Bono

• The Pro Bono teams at Baker McKenzie Paris are involved with a number of organizations working for a more inclusive and diverse world. Among the associations we support are HANDI'CHIENS, RE-BELLE and BECOMTECH. We also support other associations fighting injustice and inequality (Terre des Hommes), sexist and sexual violence (Association FIT Une Femme Un Toit), discrimination in hiring (Cravate Solidaire), and protecting and uplifting people in vulnerable situations (Red Cross).


• In addition, many members of the firm take part every year in solidarity races such as Juris'run, No Finish Line and La Nuit des Relais.

Sustainability

• The firm is BREEM certified, level 3 ("Good" level) corresponding to the environmental quality of Baker McKenzie's activity and its good practices. This certification assesses the firm's CSR policy and covers, among other things, our behavior, compliance with the good Green practices we have introduced, and our consumption (electricity, water, paper).


• Organic products: use of glass bottles; organic and eco-certified products offered in our meeting rooms; collaboration with eco-friendly service providers for our events.


• Water fountains: replacement of plastic water bottles by fountains connected to the drinking water network.


• The "Green Pack": elimination of disposable cups; distribution of a mug, a water bottle and a tote bag to all members of the Firm.


• Our "Bicycles" policy: expansion of bicycle parking and financial assistance (subject to conditions) for those wishing to purchase a bicycle.


• Paper consumption: down since 2019.


• Recycling: the firm has recycled and recovered 100 tons of paper over 10 years.


• Electricity consumption: replacement of conventional light bulbs with LEDs for greener electricity throughout the Firm.


• Selective sorting: sorting bins installed throughout the Firm.


• Baker McKenzie beehives: installation of two beehives in Normandy contributing to pollination and customization of beehives with a street artist.
