Biography

Moritz Sutterer is an associate in Baker McKenzie's Munich office and a member of the IP-Litigation Practice Group. He advises clients of all industry sectors in the full range of IP-Law with a particular focus on patents. His practice covers international licensing agreements as well as the enforcement of patents in court. Moritz graduated from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) in 2012 and worked as a trainee in international law firms in Munich and Brussels. Prior to his work at Baker McKenzie, he gained six years of appearance as a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute of Innovation and Competition where he was engaged in numerous projects in the fields of intellectual property, private international law, and competition law. Moritz worked as legal manager of an international academic journal in IP and competition law (IIC). He published various academic articles as well as position statements on current legal developments and wrote his PhD Thesis on "the conflict of laws in collective rights management". In addition, Moritz is a qualified business mediator (Munich Center for Dispute Resolution). Moritz joined Baker McKenzie in 2022.

Practice Focus

Moritz advises clients on all aspects of patent law and other IP-rights, including copyright. His practice covers many areas of IP in technology driven markets. It involves both representing clients in court and managing IP portfolios in transactions. Another focus of his practice is (competitively sensitive) licensing agreements.
