Our London office advises clients on some of the most significant deals in the UK and global markets, such as Bain Capital's £2.2-billion sale of the Brakes Group to leading North American foodservice distributor Sysco Corporations, Towers Watson's £11.5-billion merger with Willis Group, and the Gherkin receivership, one of London's largest real estate restructurings.
The number of leading multinational corporations and financial institutions that seek our advice on complex matters, along with the legal awards we regularly receive, reflects the quality of our work. In the last decade, our London Corporate Practice has worked on more than 350 M&A deals with a total value of £195 billion, and we were named "Transfer Pricing Team of the Year" for both the UK and Europe by the 2015 International Tax Review.
With more than 400 lawyers, the London office is the largest in our Firm and a major city practice in its own right, providing domestic and cross-border legal advice in Banking & Finance, M&A, Tax, Competition, Dispute Resolution, Employment, and Intellectual Property. We help clients achieve their objectives by working closely with colleagues across all of our offices to execute cross-border transactions, secure financing for major projects, and advise on the other multi-jurisdictional challenges they face.
As one of the world’s most active transactional firms, we help clients structure and execute a full spectrum of M&A transactions. We advise on all aspects of Banking & Finance, from origination through closing, and collaborate with many of the 750 Dispute Resolution lawyers across our global Firm to help clients resolve complex matters.
Our Tax team works with colleagues in other regions to find tax efficient structures for large cross-border transactions and investments, as well as advising clients on the UK tax aspects of international projects. We also offer global and local advice in the following areas:
