Biography

Dr. Katharina Weiner is a member of the Firm’s Public Law Practice Group in Dusseldorf and is part of the International Procurement Committee of the ABA. Prior to joining Baker McKenzie in 2008, she spent part of her legal clerkship working as a Stagiaire for the European Commission's Public Procurement Law Unit. She also previously worked as a research associate at University of Cologne. In 2005 she participated in the George Washington University Law School’s government contracts program in Washington DC. She graduated from Ruhr-University Bochum in 2003 with special honors.

Practice Focus

Katharina focuses her practice on public procurement and state aid law issues as well as privatizations. She has considerable experience litigating public procurement review claims at the competent review bodies, and regularly advises clients on matters related to tender procedures and compliance with domestic and European state aid laws. Katharina in particular assists clients in public procurement issues relevant to the healthcare and the defense industry sectors. She recently represented the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies in several public procurement procedures and counseled a market-leading defense equipment company in a tender procedure of the German armed forces.
