Biography
Nina Lenhard is a partner at Baker McKenzie in Vienna, heading the Antitrust & Competition and Energy & Infrastructure Practice Groups, with more than twelve years of experience advising international corporations on complex, cross-border legal matters in highly regulated industries. She combines deep regulatory expertise with a strong transactional and corporate background, having worked across international law firms, a publicly listed company and a bank, prior to joining Baker McKenzie in 2019.
Nina is known as a trusted advisor for strategically sensitive matters, guiding clients through the full lifecycle of transactions and projects, from structuring and regulatory approvals through implementation and enforcement and disputes. Clients particularly praise her ability to align regulatory, commercial and operational considerations and translate complex regulatory questions into practical business decisions, paired with the interpersonal skills to work effectively with management, boards and legal departments alike.

Nina's practice spans regulatory, transactional, compliance, contractual and corporate matters, with a track record of managing complex, multi-jurisdictional mandates from inception to resolution.
She advises on M&A and transactions, including regulatory approvals, information exchange and transaction implementation, regularly coordinating cross-border strategies in time-critical environments.
Nina's regulatory and compliance practice covers all aspects of EU and Austrian competition law, including merger control, foreign investment control, foreign subsidy regulation, information exchange and other coordination risks, abuse of dominance, cartel investigations, leniency applications or dawn raids. She supports clients with internal investigations, the design and implementation of compliance programs, advising on risk exposure and response strategies as well as stakeholder communication. She regularly represents clients in related proceedings before Austrian and European authorities and Courts, including litigations for follow-on damages claims.
She further advises on complex business model structuring, commercial agreements, distribution systems, R&D collaborations, and infrastructure projects, enabling clients to implement commercially viable solutions within demanding regulatory frameworks.
Nina has hands-on experience in international trade, export control and sanctions law and advises clients in assessing regulatory exposure, implementing compliance frameworks and navigating interactions with authorities in cross-border contexts.
In the energy sector, Nina advises on regulatory frameworks, infrastructure projects and energy transition matters, including renewable energy projects, power supply arrangements, energy-intensive infrastructure such as data center projects, as well as the energy aspects of transactions and large-scale investments.

- Regularly advises and represents global clients, such as Johnson & Johnson, Accenture, Warner Bros., Colt Technology Services, Baxter, Platinum Equity Group, Embracer, EP Power Europe, YAGEO Corporation or Citrosuco, on global regulatory and transaction structuring.
- Advised Sika AG on the CHF 5.5 billion acquisition of Master Builders Construction Chemicals Group from Lone Star Funds.
- Advised Burgenland Energie on the power purchase agreements and regulatory aspects of its EUR 1.3 billion renewable energy project.
- Regularly advises international clients, including leading pharma and technology companies, on export control and sanctions compliance.
- Regularly advises international consumer goods and life sciences companies on the structuring and implementation of distribution models.
- Regularly advises clients across various industries on the structuring and negotiation of research and development (R&D) collaborations, joint development and technology transfer arrangements.
- Advised and represented Lindsay Corporation on the acquisition of a minority interest (49.9%) in Austria-based Pessl Instruments GmbH in regulatory proceedings worldwide.
- Advised Delachaux S.A. on its sale of shares in Frauscher Sensor Technology Group GmbH.
- Advised a major global IT company on the energy requirements for the operation of a data center (including supply of power and access to grid).
- Advises and defends STRABAG in the proceedings before the Austrian competition authorities and Cartel Court as well as in court proceedings related to follow-on antitrust damages.
