Biography

Susie is a partner in Baker McKenzie London's Corporate Group and is a member of the Energy, Mining and Infrastructure team.

Practice Focus

Susie's practice focuses on advising domestic and international clients in the resources and energy sectors on M&A, joint venture arrangements, regulatory matters and corporate reorganisations. Susie has also spent eight months on secondment with a leading international mining group based in their London offices, working as part of the in-house legal team.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Acting for Tailwind Energy in relation to its acquisition of a portfolio of UKCS upstream assets from a US listed E&P corporate.

  • Advising Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) in relation to a debt and equity investment into certain Australian Port Stevedoring businesses alongside Dubai Ports. 

  • Advising Rhone Capital in relation to the UK aspects of its acquisition of Schlumberger's drilling, fishing and remedial services business. 

  • Acting for Turquoise Hill on the USD 300 million sale of its stake in Altynalmas Gold, a Kazakh gold mining joint venture project, by way of competitive auction.

  • Advising Rio Tinto on a binding offer from Imerys to acquire its Talc business at a value of USD 340 million.

  • Advising Audley Capital Advisors LLP in a consortium with Orion Resources on the acquisition of Anglo American Norte S.A. from Anglo American PLC. Anglo American Norte S.A. owns the Mantos Blancos and Mantoverde copper mines in Chile.

  • Advising on the USD 145 million investment by GIC into Siccar Point Energy alongside Blackstone, Blue Water Energy and Siccar Point's management. Siccar Point is a USD 500 million newco being established to acquire North Sea Oil & Gas exploration and production licences/assets.

  • Advising Bain Capital in relation to its USD 3.1 billion disposal of the Brakes Food Group to Sysco Corporation.

  • Advising an international energy and commodities group on the acquisition of an interest in an oil products consignment and freight forwarding business in Kazakhstan.

  • Advising Capital International Private Equity Fund with respect to shareholder arrangements relating to their control acquisition in Seven Energy, an oil and gas company with operations on shore Nigeria.
