Biography

Bryan is an associate in Baker McKenzie's IP, Data and Technology team based in London. Bryan joined Baker McKenzie as a trainee solicitor in March 2019 and qualified as a solicitor in March 2021. During his training contract, Bryan undertook a secondment with a leading global consumer goods company for six months where he advised on a range of IP, brand protection and commercial matters.

Practice Focus

Bryan's practice encompasses all aspects of IP, commercial and data privacy law, with a particular focus on IP. Bryan has experience in advising clients across a broad range of industries, with a specific focus on the Consumer Goods and Retail as well as Luxury Goods and Fashion industries.

In relation to IP, Bryan advises clients on complex IP licensing and sale transactions where IP assets play a crucial role, as well as strategic IP advisory and contentious matters. Having obtained a Distinction in the Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice from the University of Oxford, Bryan is well-versed across the full spectrum of IP rights, with a focus on trade marks and patents. Bryan also has experience in advising clients on plant variety rights and contributes to the UK chapter of the Firm’s Global Plant Variety Rights Guide and Summary.

  • Represented L'Oréal in a patent dispute in the UK Court of Appeal in connection with a patent relating to a haircare product.
  • Advised Coats Group plc on the IP aspects of its acquisition of Rhenoflex, a leading global footwear solutions business.
  • Advised PDS Limited on the IP aspects of its strategic partnership with Authentic Brands Group in relation to Ted Baker operations in Europe.
  • Advised several multinational companies on the IP aspects of their demergers and corporate restructurings, including exits from the Russian market.
  • Advising a leading global consumer goods company on an ongoing basis on various IP matters, including the IP aspects of brand disposals.
  • Advising a leading travel technology platform on an ongoing basis on various aspects of its business, including IP, data protection and consumer law issues. 
  • Advised several multinational companies on data privacy compliance matters, including advising on data transfer impact assessments, legitimate interest assessments, data transfer agreements and cookie compliance.
  • Advised a large global financial institution on a data incident impacting multiple jurisdictions.
