Biography

Laila Kouchi is a legal director in Baker McKenzie’s Corporate M&A Practice Group and a member of the ESG Group in Amsterdam. She advises corporates and investors on strategic (sell- and buyside) transactions and ESG-related matters, drawing on experience gained at leading international law firms in Amsterdam and during a secondment in St. Petersburg, Russia prior to joining the Firm.

Practice Focus

Laila’s work centers on the energy and infrastructure sectors, with particular emphasis on renewable energy and clean technology. Laila advises clients on complex M&A transactions, ESG-related matters, and regulatory challenges, ensuring seamless execution and strategic outcomes in dynamic markets.

Laila has registered the following principal (and secondary) legal practice areas in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister): Corporate law (Ondernemingsrecht).

Based on this registration, she is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.

  • Advised ResInvest Group, is an international trading and investment company, on the acquisition of Onyx Power Group, a European energy supply company and an expert in the safe and weather-independent provision of electricity and heat, from Riverstone Holdings LLC.

  • Advised Axia Vegetable Seeds, a leading breeding company of high-quality tomato seeds for greenhouses globally, on the sale of its shares to DENSO.

  • Advised Mavriq S.r.l. regarding the acquisition of Pricewise B.V.

  • Advised Karl Storz on the acquisition of the distribution business related to Karl Storz products in the Benelux from its distributor Stöpler.

  • Advised the sell-side on the sale of Solarpark Vroenhout B.V. and Klein Vroenhout B.V. to Groendus Assets Holding B.V.

  • Advised Safe Life AB on the acquisition of Medisol B.V.

  • Advised Kimberly-Clark in its strategic partnership with Suzano to create a preeminent international tissue and professional products company.

  • Advised EPH on the acquisition of MaasStroom Power Plant and 50% stake in Enecogen.

  • Advised Sunoco LP on its acquisition of several liquid fuels terminals in Amsterdam, Netherlands and Bantry Bay, Ireland from Zenith Energy Netherlands B.V.

  • Advised EPH Group on the acquisition of the wholesale activities of PZEM and the Sloe power plant.
