Biography

Olivia Chriqui-Guiot is a partner in Baker McKenzie’s Competition and Distribution Group in Paris. She joined the Firm in 2021, having started her career in 2012 as a lawyer in the competition practice of a highly regarded French law firm.

Prior to joining Baker McKenzie, Olivia Chriqui-Guiot was an associate at a highly regarded French law firm for nine years. She also interned at major international law firms.

Practice Focus

Olivia has a strong track record of assisting clients in complex, multijurisdictional merger control matters at both European and national levels. She has extensive experience in in-depth Phase 2 reviews by competition regulators and has helped clients negotiate remedy packages to secure clearances. She also advises on the application of the EU Foreign Subsidies Regulation and the DMA.

Olivia frequently represents French and international companies during dawn raids and in competition litigation (including abuse of dominant position and cartel cases). She also represents clients in damages actions before French courts.

Olivia has gained particular knowledge in the telecommunications, automobile, consumer retail, aeronautics, financial services and payments, pharmaceutical, media, and television production sectors.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Advising Crédit Agricole on establishing a joint venture with Worldline to create a leading player in the merchant payment services sector.
  • Advised several French banks, including BNP Paribas, BPCE, Crédit Agricole, Crédit Mutuel and Société Générale, on the creation of the b.connect joint venture.
  • Advised Crédit Agricole Santé & Territoires on the signing of an agreement for the acquisition of Petits-fils from Clariane.
  • Advised Rentokil Initial on negotiating and signing a promise to purchase with H.I.G. Capital LLC for the sale of its French workwear division, valued at approximately EUR 410 million.
  • Advised Fairfax Financial Holdings on its acquisition of a 70% stake in Albingia, a leading French business risk insurer, from Eurazeo.
  • Advised Ametek (NYSE-listed electronics manufacturer) and its French subsidiary Cameca on the acquisition of a patented technology essential for the manufacture of atomic force microscopes used by space agencies, research laboratories, semiconductor companies, etc.
  • Advised EDF Invest, the investment arm of the EDF group, on the acquisition of 50% of OPPCI Parcolog Invest, which owns a portfolio of logistics assets; negotiated the partnership documentation with the Generali group; and assisted the two partners in obtaining the required merger control authorizations.
  • Advised Orora, an Australian group specializing in packaging, on the acquisition of the French group Saverglass from the American fund Carlyle for approximately EUR 1.3 billion.
  • Advised Embracer on its strategic acquisition of Asmodee Group, one of the world's leading independent players in the board game market, for an estimated EUR 2.75 billion.
  • Conducted national and EU regulator-driven investigations and internal investigations in wide-ranging sectors, including automotive, construction, telco, etc.
