Baker McKenzie represented Cambium Grove Capital ("CGC"), an Asia-based asset management platform that invests in real estate, alternative credit, private equity and special situation opportunities, in connection with structuring, formation and successful closing of an investment vehicle relating to the acquisition of a portfolio of hotels in Japan, a transaction that exemplifies CGC's Japan value-add real estate investment strategy.

The Baker McKenzie team was led by Hong Kong-based private capital specialist Edwin Wong, with support from Elizabeth Mifsud, Mengshan Zhang and William Tsang.

The transaction adds to the list of cross-border deals on which the Baker McKenzie team have previously advised CGC across various asset classes ranging from growth equity, venture capital and digital assets.

Commenting on the deal, Edwin said, "We are very pleased to have assisted our long-standing client on another strategic investment. This transaction deepens CGC's access to the hotel sector in Japan, which is set to rebound as international travel gathers pace. We look forward to continuing to assist our client with their legal needs as they expand their investment portfolio across the region."
