Laura Rincón
Biography
Laura Rincón is a lawyer from Universidad de los Andes and an associate in Baker McKenzie's Dispute Resolution Practice Group in Bogotá. She has been part of the Firm since 2019, advising international clients in corporate law matters, reorganizations, transnational liquidations and banking law, in the area of project finance. Currently, she focuses on domestic and international arbitration mainly in infrastructure, energy, with major emphasis on renewable energy and hydrocarbons sector.
Laura is part of the board of directors of the Corporate Law Competition of the Universidad de los Andes and she was director of the same, where she successfully led six editions of the competition, which focuses on corporate litigation matters. Laura is a visiting professor at Universidad de los Andes. She is also part of the Research Seminar on Land Restitution at Universidad de los Andes, where she has participated in the publication of articles on private law and land restitution in times of war.
Practice Focus
Laura concentrates her practice in domestic and international arbitration, mainly in the energy and infrastructure, hydrocarbons, technology sectors and supply chain, international trade, export and import disputes.
Additionally, Laura advises companies on corporate litigation and financial law disputes.
Laura advises also companies on litigation prevention.
Representative Legal Matters
- Advised a multinational company in the structuring of a 2.76 billion Colombian pesos financing for investment in road infrastructure (award-winning transaction in the LatinFinance Project & Infrastructure Finance Awards: Autopista Río Magdalena 2).
- Advised a multinational company in the corporate reorganization in five jurisdictions.
- Advised a company in an infrastructure arbitration for a renewable energy park.
- Advised a company in a contractual dispute regarding compliance with technical specifications in the construction of a public entity building.
- Advised a company in a dispute related to the acquisition of two oil blocks in Casanare, Colombia before de ICDR.
Corporate Responsibility
- Advised the association Women in Connection Colombia in the incorporation of the entity, corporate maintenance and qualification to the Special Tax Regime.
- She was part of the team that organized the international competition Children's Rights Moot Court, which was organized jointly by Baker McKenzie and the University of Leiden, The Netherlands in 2021 and 2023.
- Advised on the formalization of enterprises in the framework of the "Pazificar" project, which offers legal advice to peace enterprises founded by former combatants, military, social leaders and people related to the crop substitution process in the regions of the country.
- Advised an international NGO on the protection of the rights to freedom of expression and freedom of the press.
- Advised an international NGO for the regional evaluation of the protection of women's reproductive rights.
- Advised a nonprofit organization in the structuring of an Amicus before the Colombian Council of State for the protection of women's rights.
