Biography

Dominique Maes is co-managing partner of the Belgian offices. He also co-heads Baker McKenzie's Corporate Practice for the EMEA region and is a member of the Firm's Global M&A Steering Committee.

Dominique is a Corporate/M&A partner in the Brussels office. He joined Baker McKenzie in 1999 and has been a partner since 2009.

For many years, Dominique has been consistently recognised as a leading corporate lawyer in Chambers Global, Chambers Europe, the Legal 500 and the International Financial Law Review (IFLR). He has been nominated as Acritas Star Lawyer and is one of the Belgian winners of the Client Choice Awards. More recently, Dominique was nominated as "Thomson Reuters Stand-out Lawyer – independently rated lawyers" 2023.

Practice Focus

Dominique advises clients on M&A, private equity, reorganisations, and corporate compliance and governance. His practice focuses on private equity and M&A transactions, buy-outs, corporate restructurings and corporate governance issues.

  • Advised Mayfair Equity Partners on its acquisition of Jonckers Translation & Engineering.
  • Advised Ingram Micro on the disposal of its commerce and life-cycle services business to CMA CGM Group/Ceva Logistics.
  • Advised Aquinos on its acquisition of Recticel's bedding business.
  • Advised Quva (the family office of Pascal Vanhalst) on its acquisitions of Abriso-Jiffy from Bencis Capital, ConDoor from Parcom Capital, and Synergia and Aalterpaint from Creafund.
  • Advised Apheon on its acquisition of Summa from Gimv.
  • Advised Westfort Capital on the disposal of 50% of the OKU Hotel Leisure Group to Alychlo.
  • Advised Dentius on investing Florac into Dentius.
  • Advised Carglass/Belron on the disposal of its car repair business to Standard Investment.
