Biography

Mario is an associate in Baker McKenzie's North American Transactional Practice Group. He joined the Firm in 2022 as a summer student and completed his articles in 2024. During his summer and articling terms, he was seconded to the FedEx Corporation and Unilever Canada, respectively, where he worked on various privacy, corporate and commercial law matters.

Practice Focus

Mario maintains a general corporate law practice with a focus on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity, corporate governance and multijurisdictional corporate reorganizations, including pre-transaction restructurings, post-acquisition integrations, carve-outs and spin-offs.

  • Advised Nors Group on its approximately CAD 150 million acquisition of Great West Equipment, a major dealer of construction and forestry equipment in Canada
  • Advised Safe Life, a Stockholm-based provider of life-saving solutions with portfolio companies across Europe and North America, on several strategic business acquisitions
  • Advised Nors Group with the acquisition of certain Volvo CE-related assets of Westcon Equipment
  • Advised Epicor on its acquisition of Solenium Group and Visual SKUs for Product Information Management and Digital Asset Management solutions for the automotive aftermarket
  • Advised Flexera on its Canadian acquisition of the NetApp's Spot FinOps portfolio
  • Advised Carpedia International, a North American firm specializing in process and change management, on its sale to SGS
  • Advised Mastercard with its 3% equity stake (approximately USD 300 million) investment in Corpay's cross-border B2B payments business
  • Advised Rosebank Industries plc on the non-US aspects of its approximately USD 1.9 billion acquisition Electrical Components International
  • Advised Axel Johnson International on its acquisition of Lam-é St-Pierre Group, a privately held Canadian company specializing in lifting and rigging solutions
  • Advised Accenture on the Canadian aspects of the acquisition of Ascendient Learning
  • Advised Accenture on the acquisition and integration of Eclipse Automation, a provider of customized manufacturing automation and robotics solutions
  • Advised Addnode Group on its acquisition of SolidCAD, one of Canada's largest Autodesk Platinum Partners
  • Advised Guidewire on its acquisition of ProNavigator, a knowledge management platform purpose-built for the property and casualty insurance industry
  • Advised Western Digital on the Canadian aspects in its global spin-off of its flash division, Sandisk Corporation, from the hard drive division
  • Advised Baker Hughes on the Canadian aspects of the USD 1.15 billion sale of its Precision Sensing and Instrumentation business to Crane Company
  • Advised Minic Investments Limited, the major shareholder, on the CAD 1.7 billion acquisition of Guardian Capital by Desjardins Financial
  • Advised Nielsen on the Canadian aspects of the carve-out sale of its marketing mix modeling business to Circana
  • Advised on the Canadian aspects of the global separation of BMC Software into two independent companies, BMC and BMC Helix
