Practice Focus
Meho Cerimovic advises national and international clients, including listed companies, across various industries such as the public sector, financial sector, telecommunications, and the pharmaceutical industry. Meho specializes in a wide range of tax matters related to income from labor and employment, with a particular focus on expatriate, equity, and executive compensation. In addition to these areas of expertise, Meho also provides advice regarding other Dutch wage and income tax, as well as social security matters, such as:
- Strategic personnel planning advice on both national and international levels, particularly concerning the deployment of employees, temporary workers, individual contractors and gig workers.
- Guidance on social plans and individual redundancies.
- Design, optimization, and implementation of employee benefits schemes via the work-related costs scheme;
- International wage, income tax and social security structuring and advice.
- Designing and implementing processes to ensure tax compliance.
- Advising on national and international restructurings, mergers, and acquisitions.
In addition to the role as a tax advisor at Baker McKenzie, Meho also works as a freelance author for a Dutch publisher specializing in professional tax literature. In this capacity, Meho writes commentaries on legal provisions related to Dutch wage tax purposes.
Representative Legal Matters
- Advised a Television Broadcaster about the tax and legal risks in respect of the set up of its workforce, as well as strategically designing and future-proofing its workforce and its hiring and compliance procedures.
- Implemented a work-related costs scheme administration and the concerning procedures for a pharmaceutical company and advised on the further set up and optimization of its employee benefits structure.
- Designed and implemented tax control frameworks for clients in various sectors, to help clients manage their Dutch wage tax and social security obligations more effectively, ensure compliance with tax laws, and reduce the risk of tax-related issues.
- Guided clients in various sectors during company visits and (sample) audits by the Dutch tax authorities in relation to its Dutch wage tax and social security obligations.
