Bee Chun Boo is a partner in the Firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions group and practices mainly in the areas of M&A, venture capital and private equity. Prior to joining Baker McKenzie’s Beijing office in 2007, Ms. Boo served as a partner in the Firm’s Singapore office. She is listed as a leading lawyer by IFLR 1000 in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, private equity and project finance.
Ms. Boo has over 20 years of experience in M&A transactions and has represented buyers and sellers from various industries—including natural resources, power, aviation and insurance. She has also been actively involved in private equity/venture capital transactions, and is seasoned in fund of funds investments, direct investments and the establishment of funds.
Representative Legal Matters
Advised a consortium of five companies (CITIC Group, Anshan Iron & Steel, Baosteel, Shougang and Taiyuan Iron & Steel) on its USD1.95 billion acquisition of a 15 percent stake in Brazilian niobium producer, CBMM.
Advised CNOOC on the USD7.06 billion acquisition by Bridas Corporation of BP's 60 percent interest in Pan American Energy LLC.
Represented a major Chinese company in its acquisition of natural resources in Kazakhstan.
Represented CNOOC in its USD3.1 billion joint venture with Bridas Energy Holdings Limited through the ownership of a 50 percent interest in Bridas Corporation.
Represented State Grid Corporation of China in its investment in National Grid Corporation of the Philippines to operate, maintain and expand the nationwide transmission system and electricity grid in the Philippines for a bid price of USD3.95 billion.
Represented China Eastern Airlines in the proposed subscription by Singapore Airlines and Temasek of new shares in China Eastern Airlines.
Represented Caltex in its acquisition of half of BP’s interest in Singapore Refining Company (SRC), a refinery on Jurong Island in Singapore, and Tanker Mooring Services, a company providing port services to SRC.
