Biography

Rebecca is a senior associate in Baker McKenzie's Intellectual Property and Technology team, based in London. She joined the Firm in 2016 as a trainee and was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2018.

Practice Focus

Rebecca’s practice focuses on a broad range of digital technologies with a particular focus on intermediary liability, product counsel and copyright. She also advises on a range of consumer, privacy and commercial law issues. Rebecca has in-house legal experience and appreciates the need to provide concise and direct guidance in complex and evolving situations.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Providing advice for leading media, social and online platform clients, relating to intermediary liability and cutting-edge product counsel issues.
  • Advising major technology clients on strategies to comply with regulatory reforms including the the EU Digital Services Act, UK Online Safety Bill, EU AI Act and the EU Copyright Directive. In parallel, Rebecca has also provided policy support to assist with client engagement with regulators.
  • In-house experience negotiating music licensing agreements and providing product counsel advice at one of the world’s largest music streaming services. 
  • Providing legal oversight on the global expansion of a major social media platform with a particular focus on copyright and advertising regulation.
  • Assisting with practical and legal challenges in the fundraising sector, including assisting with expansion into the European market, fundraising regulation and associated data privacy compliance.
  • Working closely alongside the licensing department of a global events and brand management company to draft international IP licensing agreements, supply agreements and advising on contract negotiation.

  • Rebecca has provided advice for a wide range of Baker McKenzie's pro-bono clients including the Red Cross, Cancer Research and Prisoners Abroad.
  • Since joining Baker McKenzie, Rebecca has played an active role in the Firm's gender equality focus group and enjoys sitting on the Firm's charity committee.
