Baker McKenzie won three awards at the International Financial Law Review (IFLR) Asia Pacific Awards held in Singapore on 22 March. The Firm took home "Equity Team of the Year" and was also awarded "Equity Deal of the Year" for its involvement in the first four Chinese GDR listings on the SIX Swiss Exchange under China-Switzerland Stock Connect. In addition, the Firm won "National Law Firm of the Year" in Taiwan.

The IFLR Asia Pacific Awards recognizes the region's most innovative and complex deals as well as the firms that worked on them.

The Capital Equity Markets team has advised on a number of significant equity transactions in the region in the last 12 months, including: Joincare Pharmaceutical's GDR listing on SIX Swiss Exchange; the listing of Vertex Technology Acquisition Corporation Ltd. SPAC on the Singapore Exchange; and 5E Advanced Materials (5E) and ASX listed American Pacific Borates' de-merging of 5E and listing 5E on Nasdaq and the Australian Securities Exchange.

The team's involvement in the first four Chinese GDR listings on the SIX Swiss Exchange under China-Switzerland Stock Connect, not only secured the Firm's win in the "Equity Deal of the Year" award, but it also reflects the Firm's leading position in advising clients on cross-border capital fundraising under different schemes.

Separately, Baker McKenzie was awarded "National Law Firm of the Year" in Taiwan. The national law firm awards are given to the firms with the best track record in 2022 of working on the most innovative cross-border transactions in their respective jurisdictions.

The Taipei office has acted on a number of landmark cases and transactions in the last 12 months, including: securing victory in Privy Council UK for Formosa Plastics Group's founder's heir Tony Wang; advising YAGEO Corporation in its binding commitment with Schneider Electric to acquire its Telemecanique Sensors business; and advising BizLink Holding Inc. on its EUR 450 million acquisition of LEONI Industrial Solutions business group; among many other major deals.

The BizLink deal -- for which the Taipei team led and collaborated with other Baker McKenzie offices and assisted the client to successfully close the deal (including obtaining regulatory approvals in multiple jurisdictions) -- was awarded "Most Representative M&A Deal of the Year", "Most Influential M&A Deal", and "Best Cross-Border M&A Deal" at the Taiwan Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity Council (MAPECT) Taiwan M&A Awards 2022.

Baker McKenzie Taipei was established in 1975 and officially joined Baker & McKenzie International as a member firm in 1977 to provide a full range of commercial legal services to Taiwanese companies and multinationals worldwide. The office was appraised numerous times as "Taiwan Law Firm of the Year" by Chambers Asia-Pacific. It has long been selected as the preferred law firm in various practice areas by international legal ranking agencies including Chambers Asia-Pacific, The Legal 500 Asia Pacific and International Financial Law Review (IFLR1000).
