Wouter van den Goorbergh
Biography
Wouter is a senior tax lawyer advising multinational clients on complex Dutch and international tax matters. His practice focuses on international and post acquisition structuring (including market entries, funding structures, entity integration, IP relocation, cash repatriation and management participation structuring), tax insurance and strategic tax controversy. He regularly supports clients throughout the full lifecycle of transactions and disputes and is known for translating technical complexity into clear, pragmatic solutions.
Wouter started his career at Baker McKenzie in 2015 and worked for a major Dutch law firm from 2020-2021. He rejoined Baker McKenzie in 2022.
Practice Focus
Wouter works closely with colleagues across practices and offices and advises clients across sectors including industrials, energy, private equity, financial services and fintech.
Representative Legal Matters
- Advised on the implementation of numerous Dutch holding structures, including relevant tax rulings.
- Advised on the design and implementation of IP on-shoring restructuring of a large US multinational, including relevant tax rulings.
- Advised on multiple M&A deals, both from a corporate contracts and tax structuring perspective.
- Advised on permanent establishment risks in numerous countries.
- 2024: Assisted a major insurance company on successful insurance of a complex Dutch tax risk (EUR 72 million).
- 2024/2025: Assisted a major Belgian private equity fund (EUR 275 million asset value) with the set-up of their Dutch investment structure, including management participations.
- 2024/2025: Assisted a major trust fund with Dutch equity divestment (EUR 108 million).
