Biography

Amy Trotter is a senior associate in Baker McKenzie's Real Estate Group in London.

Amy acts for a wide range of multi-national clients and practises in all aspects of real estate law, in particular, advising on commercial landlord and tenant issues and cross-border mergers, acquisitions and carve outs.

Practice Focus

Amy focuses on the consumer goods and retail sector. She has extensive experience acting for luxury retail clients and is a member of the Firm's Consumer and Retail focus group.

Amy has also led the real estate aspects of a number of cross-border, corporate carve outs and is a member of the global re-organisations focus group.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Acting for a luxury fashion brand on its European expansion programme including opening stores in London, in large shopping centres across the UK and across Europe.

  • Acted for and advised luxury fashion retailers in the Middle East during a 6 month secondment to our Dubai office.

  • Drafting and negotiating bespoke lease documentation for retail clients, including negotiating a lease for a major technology client, incorporating client specific requirements such as restrictive access and confidentiality provisions.

  • Acted on the sale of an office tower in Abu Dhabi for USD 179.1 million, which was reported as being the largest commercial real estate transaction of the year in the region.
  • Advising and acting for various high-net-worth individuals in relation to the purchase of residential leasehold and freehold properties in London, including the financing aspects of residential mortgages.

  • Leading the real estate aspects of a number of recent complex, cross-border corporate "carve outs" of a global manufacturing and technology business.

  • Leading the real estate aspects of share and asset sales and acquisitions and joint ventures.

  • Specialist research on various areas of planning law, including in respect of change of use, compensation payable for road closures as part of a major redevelopment, compulsory purchase of land as a result of HS2 and what constitutes a “highway.”
