Biography

Mark is a local principal in the Mergers & Acquisitions practice of Baker McKenzie's Singapore office.

Mark represents multinational corporations, financial institutions, and other financial and strategic investors in complex and high-value private equity transactions, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, restructurings and venture capital investments. Aside from corporate transactional work, Mark regularly counsels clients on general corporate governance, shareholder arrangements, and compliance matters.

Mark represents clients across the full spectrum of the corporate life cycle, advising on establishment, fundraising for growth, ongoing governance and compliance, acquisitions and divestments, and exit. His practice spans a broad range of industries, with significant experience in the logistics, digital infrastructure, data center, and real estate sectors.

Representative Legal Matters

Selected experience prior to joining Baker McKenzie:

  • Advised a leading global asset manager on the formation of its flagship logistics-focused, private open-ended core fund in Japan with over USD 3.2 billion in total capital commitments, and an AUM target of USD 7.2 billion by 2025.
  • Advised a leading global asset manager on a USD 1.6 billion restructuring of a USD 5.4 billion club deal with three institutional investors to invest in, develop and operate real properties located in Japan.
  • Advised a global hyperscale data center developer, owner and operator on its MYR 11.6 billion (approximately USD 2.5 billion) co-location contract in Johor, Malaysia for its flagship data center complex.
  • Advised an Asian sovereign investor in a co-investment with TPG and other leading global institutional investors to purchase the Asia-focused private hospital group Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care for USD 1.2 billion.
  • Advised Everstone Group, one of Asia’s premier investment firms, on its USD 1 billion strategic partnership with the Yondr Group to develop and operate data centers in India.
  • Advised a global leading asset manager in the secondary sale of limited partner interests in a China-based real estate fund to six institutional investors for a total purchase price of approximately USD 825 million.
  • Advised GLP Pte. Ltd. in the formation of RMB 4.5 billion (approximately USD 675 million) GLP China Value-Add Venture III with a group of leading international and domestic institutional investors to invest in GLP Park Lingang in Shanghai, the biggest and most advanced port-based logistics park in China.
  • Advised IndoSpace on the formation and ongoing operations of IndoSpace Logistics Parks IV, a USD 600 million India-focused logistics club, which will develop, acquire, own, manage and operate a diversified portfolio of industrial real estate assets across India under a build-to-core investment strategy.
  • Advised GLP Capital Partners in a venture to establish a new platform, GCP China Advanced Research Manufacturing Value-Add Partners, targeting industrial park investments with an advanced research/manufacturing focus in China’s core economic hubs and with an initial investment capacity exceeding USD 350 million.
  • Advised a leading global asset manager in the formation of the client’s latest logistics-focused Brazil venture with initial capital commitments aggregating approximately USD 255 million from leading global institutional investors to develop six logistics assets in prime sub-markets around Sao Paulo.
