Biography

Dora Stilianos is a partner in the Commercial Real Estate team at Baker McKenzie, Melbourne. Dora advises in all aspects of property law, but focuses on acquisitions, dispositions and leasing for commercial, industrial, retail and rural property, as well as on off the plan residential developments and the real property aspects of large scale corporate transactions. In 2008 she was awarded "Victorian Young Property Lawyer of the Year" by the Property Law Group of the Law Council of Australia. This award recognizes demonstrated excellence in the provision of client service, academic and practical abilities and outstanding contribution to the field and practice of property law.

Practice Focus

Dora advises financiers, investors, superannuation funds, administrators, developers and corporations in all aspects of commercial property transactions. She expertly conducts extensive due diligences, advises on property issues arising from acquisitions and dispositions of large scale property transactions and prepares and negotiates commercial contracts of sale. Dora's experience includes advising statutory corporations and government entities regarding the sale and development of Crown land. She has extensive expertise in all aspects of commercial leasing including development of purpose-built facilities and negotiating major agreements for lease. Dora advises property developers in relation to off the plan residential developments, subdivisions and redevelopments.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Acting for mortgagees, receivers and managers with respect to the exercise of their power of sale of various types of properties such as agricultural land in Northern Territory and Queensland the subject of complicated managed investment schemes and the sale of a resort and convention centre.
  • Acting for major superannuation funds and developers in relation to acquisitions and dispositions of major industrial parks and commercial real estate.
  • Advising statutory corporations with respect to the sale and development of crown land.
  • Acting for superannuation funds and developers in relation to various off the plan residential developments and associated issues including FIRB approval.
