Oliver Shepley
Biography
Oliver is an associate in the Employment & Compensation Department of Baker McKenzie's London office. He joined the Firm as a trainee in September 2020. As part of his training contract, Oliver spent time in the Banking, Tax and Disputes departments. He qualified as an associate and was admitted as a Solicitor of England and Wales in September 2022 and now advises on employment law matters across a wide variety of sectors, as well as on internal deals and multi-jurisdictional projects.
Practice Focus
Oliver advises international organisations on both contentious and non-contentious employment law matters across a variety of sectors, including tech, IT, banking and financial services. Oliver has advised on a range of global employment projects including restructurings, M&As and carve-outs, as well as domestic day-to-day advisory work, providing support on employment-related disputes and complex HR enquiries. Oliver also assists on workplace investigations on a range of matters.

Acted for Emerson Electric Co on the international employment aspects of its sale of its Climate Technologies business for USD 14 billion to Blackstone, including the carve-out of the workforce, which comprised over 20,000 employees across 44 jurisdictions.

Acted for Sika AG in their acquisition of MBCC Group, including a partial carve-out of employees within Sika to comply with.

Provided a wide variety of day-to-day employment advice with a domestic and international focus under a retainer with multiple global technology companies, including redundancy procedures, disciplinary proceedings, and settlement agreements.

Advised multinational consumer healthcare company on data protection compliance from an employment perspective for over 30 jurisdictions.

Acted for a healthcare client in responding to a claim from a former employee for breach of discrimination legislation in the Employment Tribunal.
