Biography

Patrick Henry Salazar is a partner in Quisumbing Torres' Employment & Compensation Practice Group and the Healthcare & Life Sciences Industry Group. He has 12 years of experience advising clients on employment matters. He graduated class valedictorian from the University of the Philippines - College of Law, and placed sixth in the 2012 bar examinations.

Practice Focus

Patrick's practice focuses on labor standards compliance, employment-related investigations and terminations, employee transfers, labor disputes and litigation, employee mobility, occupational health and safety matters, and employment due diligence and transactional work. He also handles labor union matters, including collective bargaining negotiations. His practice spans several industries, including healthcare, consumer goods and retail, industrials, manufacturing, transportation, and technology, media and telecommunications.

He actively participates as a speaker and presenter in various regional and local seminars and conferences, and co-authors publications on labor and employment-related issues.

  • Regularly advise a global player in the technology sector on its various employment-related issues and processes, such as employment termination, sexual harassment, policy changes, pay queries, internal reorganization, leave benefits, and other corrective actions.
  • Regularly advise a global technology and social media conglomerate on its various employment-related issues and processes, including labor standards compliance, employment-related investigations and disciplinary proceedings, mass terminations, and occupational health and safety matters.
  • Assist and advise an Australian gaming portal and pioneers of social sweepstake gaming on its direct engagement of several individual contractors in the Philippines, including alternative structures that the client may explore (e.g., setting up presence in the Philippines) and strategy on separating the contractors.
  • Advise and represent a shipbuilding company in amicably closing dispute with several Filipino workers whose overseas deployment to Canada did not proceed due to client organizational changes and other circumstances beyond the control of the client.
  • Assist and advise a global snack company in the conduct of a complex disciplinary proceedings against a high-ranking employee, and represent the client in an illegal dismissal complaint filed by the employee.
  • Advise a global software solutions company on its various employment-related issues and processes. Represented the client in complicated labor cases, including an illegal dismissal case filed by a senior vice president.
  • Advise a global IT services company on its various employment-related issues and processes. Represented the client in the appellate proceedings of a complicated illegal dismissal case, and in other labor cases involving ability of employer to require an employee to report back to office after the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Represent a business process outsourcing company in numerous labor cases involving illegal dismissal, constructive dismissal, illegal suspension, and other money claims.
