Biography

Philippe M. Reich currently serves as head of the Firm's Antitrust, EU and Trade Law Practice Group in Switzerland. He has been a member of the Steering Committee for the EMEA International Trade and Commerce practice group and is currently a member of the EMEA Competition Law, International Trade and Commerce and Transactional practice groups. Philippe has been regularly recognized as a leader in his field in Who's Who Legal and as a notable practitioner in Legal 500 and Chambers, while the Swiss practice is ranked "Highly Recommended" in GCR, "Recommended" in Chambers and Tier 2 in Legal 500. Philippe is also the EMEA representative on the Steering Committee of Baker McKenzie's Global India Focus Group, Chairman of the Swiss Indian Chamber of Commerce and forms the Indian Desk of Baker McKenzie in Switzerland.

Practice Focus

Philippe is seasoned in antitrust, European and international trade law, in particular export controls and sanctions, as well as commercial and corporate law. He advises on cross-border transactions and joint ventures and represents clients in India on in- and outbound projects. Philippe regularly advises clients on antitrust and trade compliance and represents them in cartel, verticals, dominance and merger control, as well as export control and sanctions proceedings before the Swiss authorities.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Regularly advises on in- and outbound Swiss-Euro-Indo cross–border structurings and transactions.

  • Regularly advises numerous Swiss and international clients in various sectors on antitrust compliance issues, including dawn raids and investigations.

  • Regularly advises numerous Swiss and international clients in various sectors on trade compliance issues, including compliance policies and investigations.

  • Successfully defended a number of Swiss and international clients in export control and sanctions investigations/proceedings.

  • Represented and advised Panalpina in the global investigation (including Swiss proceedings) in respect of an alleged cartel in the freight forwarding sector and coordinated the global team of legal advisers.

  • Represents and advises Estée Lauder in the Swiss investigation in respect of an alleged cartel in the luxury cosmetics and perfumes sector.

  • Represented and advised a major international airline in the Swiss investigation in respect of an alleged cartel in the air cargo sector.

  • Advised a major international airline on antitrust compliance; represented and advised a major international airline in a Swiss abuse of dominance case; and represented and advised Credit Suisse in the Swiss merger control proceeding in respect of the emergency takeover of Swissair.

  • Represented and advised sda in a Swiss abuse of dominance investigation and represented and advised sda in the Swiss merger control proceedings in respect of the acquisition of control of keystone and the participation of APA.
