Biography

Diego Ramírez Sánchez is a junior associate in the Tax Practice Group in Mexico City, focusing his practice in both tax administrative litigation and tax consulting.

He joined Baker McKenzie in 2022 as a law clerk and was promoted to junior associate in January 2025, having more than two years of experience in the area.

He graduated from law school in May 2024, obtaining the CENEVAL Award for Academic Excellence Performance EGEL.

He obtained an honorable mention in the defense of his thesis focused on administrative, fiscal and constitutional issues, "Federal Court of Administrative Justice, proposal of constitutional reform to recognize it as an Autonomous Constitutional Organism.”

Practice Focus

Diego develops his practice mainly in tax, administrative and regulatory litigation matters (federal and local) as well as in tax consulting.

He has participated in litigation against the actions of the authorities in the exercise of their powers of verification and enforcement, as well as in the development of audits carried out by the SAT to taxpayers.

He also has experience in approaching and discussion with local and federal administrative tax authorities, as well as with public servants and judges of the Federal Court of Administrative Justice and the Federal Judiciary.

He has also been involved in matters related to tax compliance and tax refund requests.

He has provided services to national entities, multinationals, consolidated groups and companies in the manufacturing, pharmaceutical and energy sectors.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Participated in the preparation, execution and follow-up of defenses for clients in tax litigation at the federal and local level, including appeals for revocation, annulment trials and amparos.
  • Experienced in administrative appeals in procurement and public bidding matters, as well as litigation support and consultations in regulatory administrative matters before COFEPRIS, PROFECO and other administrative agencies.
  • Advising clients in multiple procedures and administrative proceedings before the Tax Administration Service.
  • Collaborated in advising multinational companies in corporate restructurings from a tax point of view.
  • Participation and experience in the compliance of administrative obligations at State and Municipal level.
  • Supported in the planning and development of mechanisms for Mexican companies to comply with their Controlling Beneficiary obligations.
