Biography
Carlo Pérez-Arizti is a partner in the Transactional Practice Group at Baker McKenzie’s Mexico City office and previously practiced in the Firm’s New York office. With nearly two decades of experience, Carlo advises multinational corporations, private equity firms, and high-growth companies on complex cross-border transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, corporate restructurings, and market entry strategies. He also regularly counsels clients on corporate governance, foreign investment, and brand expansion matters across Latin America.
Carlo serves on Baker McKenzie’s North America Innovation and Knowledge Management Committees, contributing to the Firm’s strategic initiatives on legal innovation and client service transformation. He has been recognized as a leading transactional attorney by Chambers & Partners, The Legal 500, Latin Lawyer, and Best Lawyers, among other international rankings and was recently nominated as Mexico’s M&A Lawyer of the Year - 2025 by Legal 500.
A Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum, Carlo has represented Baker McKenzie at the Annual Meeting in Davos and is a frequent contributor to legal and business commentary in national and international media, including The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Reforma, El Financiero, etc.

- Advised McCormick & Company in its acquisition of the controlling entity of Cholula Hot Sauce.
- Represented Nielsen in the structuring of a joint venture with IBOPE Media across six Latin American jurisdictions.
- Advised Virgin Mobile on the launch of its operations in Mexico, including securing project financing from IFC and CAMIF.
- Guided Abercrombie & Fitch through its brand expansion and retail rollout in Mexico.
- Represented FedEx in the acquisition of a leading domestic courier and logistics company.
- Acted for ED&F Man in the sale of multiple sugar mills in Mexico.
- Led the M&A team recognized with the 2023 LATAM Oil & Gas Deal of the Year.
