Biography

Lawrence C. Lee is a partner in Baker McKenzie's Palo Alto office. Lawrence regularly advises clients in connection with mergers and acquisitions and other complex corporate transactions across a variety of industries, with a particular focus on the technology sector.

Prior to joining Baker McKenzie, Lawrence served as in-house counsel for a San Francisco digital currency exchange where he led all corporate and strategic transactions and investments. From 2015 to 2018, he was selected by California Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in Mergers and Acquisitions. In 2020, Lawrence was selected by Law360 as a Top Attorney Under 40 in the Technology sector. In 2022, Lawrence was selected by The American Lawyer as a finalist for its Young Lawyer of the Year (Corporate) Industry Award.

Practice Focus

Lawrence's practice focuses extensively on all forms of mergers and acquisitions transactions, private equity sales and acquisitions, corporate venture capital investments, and other complex corporate transactions. Lawrence also advises companies and their boards of directors on corporate governance and securities law compliance matters. Additionally, he has significant experience representing clients in the fintech industry on strategic corporate transactions.

  • Advised Coinbase on numerous acquisitions and strategic transactions, including its investment in Coinswitch Kuber at a valuation of USD 1.9 billion and its acquisition of Agara

  • Advised Instacart on its acquisition of Caper.ai

  • Advised Jumio on its acquisitions of Beam Solutions and 4Stop

  • Advised Snowflake on its acquisitions of CryptoNumerics, Polidea, the engineering team of Pragmatists and the SnowConvert business of Mobilize.net

  • Advised SAP on the sale of its SAP Digital Interconnect business to Sinch for approximately USD 240 million

  • Advised Tencent on its acquisition of Funcom

  • Advised Xperi in its acquisition of Vewd Software at a valuation of USD 109 million

  • Advised Yageo in its acquisition of Schneider Electric’s Telemecanique Sensors business at a valuation of EUR 723 million

Prior to joining the Firm, Lawrence served as counsel to:
