Biography

Valérie Kopéra is a counsel in the Litigation and Employment practice groups of Baker McKenzie's Luxembourg office. She joined the Firm on 1 February 2024.

Valérie has almost 20 years of experience in Luxembourg business matters. She started her career as a tax adviser at one of the Big Four firms before focusing on corporate, banking and finance matters at a major local law firm.

After almost a decade of legal advisory at internationally renowned firms and a short experience at a bank, Valérie decided to focus on business litigation, drawing on her extensive consulting experience. She worked for nearly eight years in a leading law firm as counsel and litigation attorney, before running her own practice and finally heading the litigation and dispute resolution department as a partner of a local law firm.

Practice Focus

Valérie is renowned in dispute resolution matters. She has been involved in high-profile multijurisdictional civil, commercial, tax and regulatory disputes before Luxembourg courts and as counsel in foreign jurisdictions.

Valérie assists clients in prelitigation matters through risk management and pre-dispute advice, and in litigation matters by representation at court or through amicable settlements or arbitration.

She handles all aspects of cases involving shareholders' disputes, fraudulent acts, contractual issues, breach of fiduciary duties, directors' liability, contractual and tort liability, labor law, enforcement of foreign decisions, seizure of bank accounts and claims recovery.

Valérie is particularly active in corporate governance.

Valérie has gained a deep experience in insolvency matters by acting as a judicial liquidator and bankruptcy trustee in major international insolvency cases.

Valérie is also active in data protection, IP/IT and AI matters.
