Biography

Rohit Karamchandani is a member of the Baker McKenzie Tax Group based in London. He advises on all areas of UK and international corporate tax, with a particular emphasis on real estate matters.

Rohit is a qualified Chartered Tax Adviser and a Chartered Accountant who trained with a large accountancy practice, gaining experience in corporate M&A, international and corporate tax planning, before joining Baker McKenzie.

Practice Focus

Rohit advises on the tax aspects of due diligence, structuring, financing, negotiation of deal documentation, post-transaction integration and exits. He also advises on general international tax advisory matters and group reorganisations. He has assisted institutional investors, alternative asset managers, private equity firms, multinational enterprises and family offices.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Advised a co-investor regarding the acquisition of a pre-let office development located in London for approximately GBP 800 million.
  • Advised a major Japanese technology and media group on a post-Brexit restructuring of its European business, covering over 25 jurisdictions.
  • Advised a hospitality business on the acquisition of a historic 5-star luxury hotel in London. This acquisition was part of a EUR 400 million fund, which the group raised in partnership with a number of investors.
  • Advised a home builder in Japan, to enter into the UK real estate market in a joint venture, to build a GBP 250 million residential development in London.
  • Advised PUIG on the acquisition of a majority stake in Charlotte Tilbury, the iconic British luxury makeup and skincare brand.
  • Advised on an investment in an Italian grocery real estate portfolio (hypermarkets and supermarkets) for approximately EUR 140 million.
  • Advised on the purchase of a portfolio of purpose-built student accommodation assets in the United Kingdom for approximately USD 300 million.
  • Advised on the forward funding of a 2.94 million sq. ft. global logistics/distribution centre.
