Biography

Paul Goedvolk is a partner and head of the Amsterdam Real Estate department. With 25 years of experience, Paul is a highly experienced and well-regarded real estate lawyer, inter alia recognized by Chambers Europe as one of the leading civil law notaries in the Netherlands.

Paul is experienced in all aspects of commercial property (including lease and construction law), real estate finance and project development, and has specific expertise on (renewable) energy projects, data centers and logistics developments as well as related corporate law. His practice is primarily focused on transactional mandates, working closely with banking & finance and corporate teams, particularly around the acquisition of real estate and the financing thereof

 

Practice Focus

The practice is focused on transactional work, such as large office, retail, housing and data center portfolios. The team has specific capacity with respect to renewable energy related matters. The team often participates in transactions relating to the acquisition and development of solar parks and wind farms. The team also publishes on ESG related issues.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Advised SC Johnson with a multiyear renovation project for their manufacturing facility (Europlant) in Mijdrecht.
  • Assisted Intermediate Capital Group as purchaser with the EUR 100 million acquisition and the subsequent leaseback of the approximately 89,000-square-meter Syngenta-facility located in Enkhuizen, the Netherlands.
  • Advised Daiwa House Group, one of Japan's leading construction companies, on the acquisition of Jan Snel Group's holding company, Flexbuild Holding B.V.  as part of its continuing business expansion overseas.
  • Advised Bank Hapoalim on the financing of the acquisition of the BKS parking portfolio by Crossroads Real Estate, Holland Immo Group and Apcoa Parking.
  • Advised ORPEA (as seller) on the sale and leaseback transaction concerning a portfolio of 32 retirement homes and one office building located in the Netherlands, with Syntrus Achmea Real Estate & Finance, acting on behalf of the Achmea Dutch Health Care Property Fund, as purchaser.
  • Assisted Commerz Real in the acquisition of two Intercity hotels – newly constructed in the Netherlands – a 115-room hotel in Leiden and one with 174 rooms in Breda – through its Luxembourg-based company CR Fund Management.
  • Advised a Belgium listed company in the acquisition of one of the largest logistic projects in the Netherlands.
  • Advised various hyper scale data center developers and investors in respect of acquisitions and developments on Agriport and in the Schiphol area.
  • Advised recently a Luxembourg investment fund on the acquisition of an office portfolio.
  • Advised a Dutch private investor on the financing and acquisition of one of the largest housing portfolios in 2020/2021.
