Biography

Carmen is an associate in the Baker McKenzie's Antitrust & Competition London office team since October 2022. With a strong focus on merger control and antitrust, she is an EU-qualified lawyer and has worked, among others, in the Madrid and Lima Baker McKenzie offices as part of a cross-office secondment. Previous to joining Baker McKenzie, Carmen worked at The Coca-Cola Company in Madrid as an analyst supporting the McDonald's Iberia Key Account.

Practice Focus

Carmen focuses on all aspects of EU and UK competition law, including multijurisdictional merger control, foreign investment and antitrust compliance matters. She advises clients in a wide range of industries, including private equity, consumer goods and retail, healthcare, telecommunications and the construction sector.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Advises and represents a multinational Swiss specialty chemical company in its proposed acquisition of a Peruvian manufacturer before local antitrust authority.

  • Advised Platinum Equity securing global with regulatory merger control and foreign investment approvals work worldwide in relation to, including its latest acquisition of Calderys, a global provider for industries operating in high temperature conditions, and Hop Lun a global fashion lingerie and swimwear company based in Hong Kong.

  • Advised Solenis (a Platinum Equity portfolio company) achieving with its worldwide merger control and foreign investment approvals, to acquire Diversey, a leading provider of hygiene, infection prevention and cleaning solutions based in South Carolina.

  • Advised a multinational telecommunications company on its global regulatory clearances (including merger control and foreign investment review) for its USD 1.8 billion acquisition of the EMEA business of another multinational telecommunications company

  • Advised a global specialty pharmaceutical company in all merger control aspects regarding its two agreements to acquire anaesthetic products in Europe and dispose its business in China.

  • Advised Sika, the multinational specialty chemical company, to acquire MBCC Group, the former BASF Construction Chemicals from an affiliate of Lone Star Funds for a consideration of EUR 5.2 billion.

  • Advised a global cosmetic manufacturer on competition matters such as implementation of internal competition policies and dawn raid training, resale price maintenance, territorial restrictions and online sales.

  • Advises multinational corporations in the clothing retailer sector and fast food industry in relation to its go to market models in the EU and UK.

  • Represented a global manufacturer of fragrances in the dawn raid conducted by the UK Competition and Markets Authority in 2023.
