Iolie Calochristos is a senior associate in Baker McKenzie's Structured Capital Markets Team in London, working in the area of derivatives and structured finance. Iolie joined Baker & McKenzie LLP in September 2009 as a trainee solicitor. Following her qualification in September 2011, Iolie joined the Structured Capital Markets team.
In 2012, Iolie spent six months on secondment at Citigroup Global Markets Limited working with the Prime Finance and Listed Derivatives legal team. In 2015, Iolie spent six months on secondment at Credit Suisse working with the Strategic Transactions and Structured Equities legal team.
Representative Legal Matters
Advised on a broad range of derivatives and structured products, including interest rate and currency swaps and options, total return swaps, equity derivatives, stock lending transactions, repurchase transactions, regulatory capital or tax driven structures, loan and securitisation hedging.
Advised on the review and negotiation of a broad range of derivatives trading documentation (industry standard and bespoke), as well as the enforcement of event-driven situations and the review of local law legal opinions relating to the enforceability of netting and collateral arrangements.
Represented the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) and the Securities Financing Transactions Regulation (SFTR), including in respect of the implementation of regulatory reporting requirements and margin requirements (together with related triparty/third party custody arrangements).
Acted on the review and negotiation of clearing documentation for OTC and exchange-traded derivatives and CCP rulebooks.
