Baker McKenzie has advised BayWa r.e. AG on the sale of its Australian renewable energy portfolio to Atmos Renewables, comprising approximately 2GW of operating and development-stage renewable energy projects across Australia.
The transaction encompasses a significant portfolio of wind and solar assets and projects across New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland, including two operating solar projects in Victoria, and the 262MW Bullawah Wind Farm which was awarded transmission access rights to the South West REZ last year.
Lead partner and our Head of Energy, Raymond Lou stated: “BayWa r.e. Australia have been a long term client of the Energy Team, and we are delighted to have advised them on this significant and highly complex transaction involving one of Australia’s largest renewable energy portfolios.
The transaction reflects the continued depth of investor interest in high-quality Australian renewable energy assets and development opportunities as Australia’s energy transition gathers pace."
Almost the entire Baker McKenzie projects development team had been involved on this transaction, which commenced more than a year ago. Led by Raymond Lou, the team included Miles Wadley, Sarah Merrett, Andrew Prowse, Linsey Edgar, Naasha Loopoo, Lachlan Salt, William Tai, Michael Zhang, and Jacob Dorsett-Sawyer.
