Baker McKenzie advised Vandemoortele, a leading European family-owned food group, in the acquisition of Délifrance, one of Europe’s leading frozen bakery manufacturers, recognised for its high-quality frozen bakery products, which embodies French bakery excellence.
By joining forces, Vandemoortele will be able to offer customers a complete range of great tasting viennoiseries, Danish pastries, artisanal bread, donuts, Italian savouries, and patisserie products under leading brands like Délifrance, Banquet d’Or, Doony’s, Lanterna, Acquaviva and Lizzi. It will create an estimated €2.4 billion global player that will shape the future of frozen bakery through international expansion, providing innovation and value-added services and solutions to retail and foodservice partners, and accelerating ambitious sustainability plans.
The cross-border Baker McKenzie team, led by Koen Vanhaerents (Brussels) and Hugo Sanchez De La Espada (Paris) includes M&A partner Saveria Laforce (Paris); M&A associates Michel Tans (Brussels), Pieter-Jan Denys (Brussels), Johanna Federspiel (Paris) and Quinten Saey (Brussels); commercial partner Geert Bovy (Brussels); antitrust partner Fiona Carlin (Brussels) and antitrust counsel Bram Hoorelbeke (Brussels).
Koen Vanhaerents said, “We are pleased to have again supported Vandemoortele on this significant transaction, after we assisted Vandemoortele on its other recent acquisitions in this sector in Italy and the US. This deal also underscores our cross-border and cross-practice capabilities and demonstrates our ability to act on significant deals and deliver exceptional service to our clients.”
