Chambers Europe has released its 2024 guide, ranking Baker McKenzie in 171 practice areas and in 244 lawyer categories. The Firm emerged as the third most-ranked firm in Europe. 

The Firm has maintained Band 1 rankings in 21 categories, including five in Europe-wide categories across Employment (2011-2024), Tax (2018-2024), and Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT: Information Technology 2014-2024, Media 2023-2024, and Telecommunications 2014-2024). The Firm has also maintained Band 2 rankings in 40 categories, including in one Europe-wide category – Intellectual Property.

Continuing to strengthen its performance, Baker McKenzie gained 12 new practice group rankings, including Europe-wide rankings for Corporate Investigations and International Trade/WTO. The Firm also achieved five band promotions, three of which are movement to the higher Band 1 and 2 tables. One of the promotions was a move from Band 2 to Band 1 (TMT: Telecommunications in Italy).

In France, Baker McKenzie maintained its TMT Band 1 ranking and in Germany, its Commercial Contracts and Public Law: Public Procurement/PPP Band 1 rankings. 

In the individual lawyer categories, the Firm gained 36 new rankings, seven of which are young lawyers recognized in the Up-and-Coming/Associates-to-Watch table. We recorded 18 promotions, with 11 stepping to the top Band 1 and 2/Senior Statespeople table. 

Europe-wide, Arnoud Willems (International Trade/WTO) maintained his Band 1 ranking. In France, Eric Meier (Tax Litigation), Laurent Szuskin (TMT: Information Technology) and Rémy Bricard (TMT: Information Technology) all maintained their Band 1 rankings. In Germany, Ulf Wauschkuhn (Commercial Contracts), Jörg Risse (Dispute Resolution: Arbitration Counsel, Dispute Resolution: Most in Demand) and Thilo Räpple (Life Sciences) also held their Band 1 rankings. 

Chambers is the leading international legal directory, covering over 200 jurisdictions around the world. Rankings are based on interviews with clients and peers as well as firm submissions.
Practices and individuals earning a Band 1 ranking are noted by the guide for achieving the highest, "technical legal ability, client service, commercial vision and business understanding, diligence, value for money, depth of team, and other qualities most valued by the client."
