Liam Thomson is a special counsel specialising in commercial real estate transactions. He provides strategic and commercial advice to a broad range of leading Australian corporations, high-net-worth individuals, large family businesses and international corporations. Liam is known for his pragmatism and tenacious negotiating in the interests of his clients.
Practice Focus
Liam advises on all aspects of real estate transactions, particularly the acquisition, development, sale, and leasing of commercial, industrial and retail assets. This includes due diligence, titling, agreements for leases, development agreements, property management agreements and associated structuring and taxation issues.

- Advising OMERS Infrastructure in relation to its acquisition of mobile tower and rooftop assets from TPG Telecom.
- Advising Optus in relation to various infrastructure projects.
- Acting for a listed REIT in relation to property and funds management matters and disposals.
- Acting for an overseas pension fund in relation to the acquisition of various agricultural holdings.
- Acting for Karedis Investment Group in relation to the sale of Alexandria Homemaker Centre by way of unit and share sale.
- Acting for Far East Organisation in relation to the acquisition of various commercial buildings.*
- Acting for KordaMentha (as administrators of the Arrium Group) in relation to the property, leasing and environmental aspects of the significant pre-sale restructure of the Arrium Group and the sale of Arrium Australia.*
- Acting for Toga Group in relation to the development of a large-scale residential apartment developments (in excess of 650 units) in Hurstville and Macquarie Park.*
- Advising a private property syndicate in relation to the acquisition and sale of numerous commercial properties.
- Acting for Haben Property Fund in relation to the acquisition, leasing and sale of various retail shopping centres.*
- Acting for Ashe Morgan in relation to the AUD 400 million purchase of a 50% interest in 309-321 Kent Street, Sydney.*
- Negotiation and management of commercial, industrial and retail lease portfolios.
