Biography

Sylvie Paul is an associate in Baker McKenzie’s North America Tax Practice Group in Washington, DC. Sylvie started her career as a litigation associate for another multinational law firm and joined the Firm in 2024.

Sylvie advises on major multinational corporations and individuals on a variety of US federal income taxation matters related to cross-border transactions, including restructuring and entity rationalization, digital tax and cloud computing, cross-border treasury activities, and structuring international operations.

Sylvie is an active member of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and contributed to the US Report on the subject “Taxation of Royalties for the Use of, and Gains From the Sale of, Intellectual Property/Intangibles” for the International Fiscal Association 2026 Congress. She is also a teaching assistant for the Georgetown University Law Center L.L.M. international tax course, International Tax and Business Planning Workshop.

Practice Focus

Sylvie focuses her practice on matters relating to US federal and international taxation, with an emphasis on international tax planning (inbound and outbound), legislative and regulatory advocacy, and tax advising on issues affecting software, technology, and digital enterprise companies.
