Matthew manages the protection and commercialization of intangible assets on behalf of global enterprises. His experience includes managing trademark portfolios in over 150 jurisdictions and overseeing large-scale patent recordal projects. In addition to advising on IP considerations in corporate transactions and the commercialization of proprietary assets, Matthew maintains an active IP disputes practice.
Marketing and Advertising
Matthew assesses strategic risk in marketing and advertising, including compliance with Canadian standards and the management of regulatory complaints. He advises major platforms and brands on advertising policies and content across online, social media, print, and broadcast channels. His focus remains on building and protecting brand value through informed IP and regulatory strategy.
Regulatory and Privacy
Matthew guides clients through Canadian regulatory requirements, including telecommunications law and data privacy. He drafts privacy policies, advises on compliant data collection activities, and assists with cyber breach response. He also provides counsel on the regulatory hurdles associated with deploying novel technologies.

- Assisted with breach response and assessment of reporting obligations in relation to data privacy breach.
- Advised a multinational technology company on colocation agreements in respect of obligations under the Canadian telecommunications law.
- Manages several international trademark portfolios with brand protection in over 150 jurisdictions.
- Managed a financial regulatory review project assessing compliance requirements for a large multinational bank across several jurisdictions worldwide.
- Advised in the acquisition of a biotechnology and medical software company.
- Advised Safe Life, a Stockholm-based provider of life-saving solutions with portfolio companies across Europe and North America, on several strategic business acquisitions.
