Markus Meuller

Biography

Markus Meuller is a member of Baker McKenzie’s Banking & Finance Practice Group in Stockholm. He specialises in international and Swedish domestic financing transactions and has extensive experience from both Sweden and the U.S. 

Prior to joining the Firm in 2019, he was a practicing attorney in New York for more 10 years, most recently at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer US LLP and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.

Practice Focus

Markus represents private equity funds, corporations, investment banks and commercial banks in connection with a wide range of international and domestic financing transactions, including acquisition financings, leveraged buyouts, bridge financings, mezzanine facilities, corporate recapitalizations, investment grade financings, asset-based loans, real estate financings and restructurings.

Representative Legal Matters

His experience prior to joining the Firm includes:
  • Advised European investment group on debt financing for GBP 1.5 billion acquisition of restaurant chain.

  • Represented U.S. private equity firm on debt financing for acquisition of U.S. food testing and certification business, as well as financing for subsequent add-on acquisitions in South America and Europe. 

  • Represented a global hotel and leisure business in connection with a USD 600 million USD / EUR Term Loan B Facility and a USD 100 million Multi-Currency Revolving Credit Facility. 

  • Represented major U.S. bank, as lead arranger, in connection with USD 850 million Term Loan B Facility for global retailer of professional beauty supplies. 

  • Advised major European car manufacturer as borrower in connection with a USD 2.5 billion credit facility 

  • Advised major European private equity firm in connection with debt financing for EUR 1.75 billion acquisition of a business services firm.

  • Advised U.S. private equity firm in connection with credit facility used to fund acquisition of agricultural business.
  • Represented a U.S. bank in connection with a USD 2.3 billion financing for a takeover of a semiconductor business. 

  • Represented private equity firm in connection with a USD 540 million first lien credit facility and a USD 160 million second lien credit facility, the proceeds of which were used in connection with an add-on acquisition of a company providing workers compensation pharmacy benefit management services, and the joint investment in the combined entity by another sponsor.

  • Represented U.S. private equity firm in connection with the debt financing for its USD 1.5 billion acquisition of a global warranty insurance company.
