Alejandro Mejía Castrillón
Biography
Alejandro is a lawyer focusing on private law from Universidad de los Andes, where he also obtained his degree in political science and worked as a postdoctoral research assistant and academic coordinator of the Specialization in Commercial Law. He also holds a Specialization in Corporate Law from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana.
He joined Baker McKenzie as an auxiliary associate and in 2024 became a junior associate in the Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Group.
He has experience in the implementation of international investments in Colombia through corporate structures, as well as in negotiating and drafting share and asset purchase agreements, energy regulatory matters, and due diligence processes.

Representative Legal Matters
- Assisted on the structuring, negotiation, and successful execution of the acquisition of a renewable solar energy project with a capacity exceeding 280 MW, through a structure involving a standalone trust (patrimonio autónomo) and a shareholders’ agreement.
- Assisted on the negotiation and drafting of multiple share purchase agreements, asset purchase agreements, and energy supply agreements.
- Supported the implementation of the corporate reorganization of a market-leading automotive parts company with its direct shareholder and its foreign holding company.
- Assisted on comprehensive due diligence processes for the acquisition of pharmaceutical companies, companies with investments in oil exploration and production blocks in Colombia, educational institutions, and retail sector companies.
