Emily is a Local Principal in the Employment Group in Singapore. Emily assists clients to achieve practical and commercial solutions to employment issues across Singapore, Hong Kong and Asia more broadly.

Practice Focus

Emily's focus is on cross border matters, working with clients to create regionally consistent yet locally compliant approaches to difficult and complex employment issues. She is sought after for her clear, commercial and common sense based approach to problem solving.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Advising on disciplinary matters: analysing evidence and advising on alleged misconduct (including corrupt conduct), criminal offences and employee performance concerns against executive and senior officers; drafting show cause notices for disciplinary action, and disciplinary findings and penalty letters on behalf of chief executives and senior management.
  • Assisting various clients with restraint of trade matters: drafting employment and contractor agreements with tailored confidentiality and post-employment restraints; successfully securing court orders restraining a former employee from soliciting clients and the prospective competitor company from engaging the individual in their business in Australia, for up to 12 months following termination.
  • Conducting a large-scale investigation on behalf of a Singaporean company into allegations of employee serious misconduct and fraud.
  • Advising clients on the range of day to day queries, including: annual leave, sickness absence, termination, performance management, disciplinary and grievance procedures and data protection.
  • Assisting clients restructure their operations by making changes to the workforce, including redundancy and transfer of business.
  • Acted for a leading multinational technology company in a mass layoff project in which the company laid off thousands of employees around the world, including in Singapore.
  • Acted for a leading retail company in a layoff project in which the company laid off a large number of employees around the world, including in Singapore.
  • Represented a large global technology company in the review of its hiring documents across Asia-Pacific. This is particularly complex as it involved consolidating the client's previous template and coming up with consistent templates that can be used across the region.
