Biography

Julia Hildebrandt joined Baker McKenzie's Dispute Resolution team in Vienna in August 2021. Prior to joining the Firm, she gained experiences as a trainee and later as a junior associate in a renowned Austrian boutique law firm, focusing on investment and international commercial arbitration. Julia graduated from the University of Vienna. She has substantial academic experience working first as a student assistant and later as an external lecturer at the Section for International Law and International Relations at the University of Vienna.

Practice Focus

Julia's particular focus lies in the field of international investment arbitration and public international law. Her practice also includes commercial arbitration, such as construction and gas market regulation. Julia has been able to collect experience in arbitral proceedings under the most relevant arbitration rules, among them the ICC Rules, the Vienna Rules and ICSID.

Representative Legal Matters

Prior to joining the Firm, Julia was,

  • part of the team representing an Austrian investor in the gaming sector in an ICSID arbitration against a Latin American State regarding the revocation of a license.

  • part of the team representing a state owned entity in a complex ICC arbitration concerning the design and construction of a power plant in the SEE region.
