Biography

John Gustafson is a partner in Baker McKenzie's Private Equity Practice Group. He works with leading Nordic and European private equity firms and their portfolio companies as well as international corporates. Prior to joining the Firm in 2018, he was a senior associate in another international law firm.

Practice Focus

John advises private equity funds on buy-out transactions, including acquisitions and exits, and corporates on domestic and cross-border M&A transactions.

    • Ilionx, a leading Dutch IT implementation partner, from Egeria Capital
    • OptiGroup, a leading player in the business-to-business distribution market, from Triton and Altor, and the simultaneous combination with Hygas, a leading Benelux business-to-business distributor
    • Fellowmind, through the simultaneous combination of three leading Microsoft partners in Europe across the Netherlands, Sweden and Finland
    • Nordlo, through the simultaneous combination of 20 independent IT consultancy providers to form a leading IT operations services provider
    • Holmbergs Safety System, a global market leader in safety systems for child safety seats
    • Bygghemma, a leading Nordic e-commerce company, from Nordstjernan
    • Active Brands, a fast growing house of premium sports apparel and equipment brands
  • Nalka Invest, a leading Europan institutional investor, on numerous transactions including:
    • acquisition of Uniwater
    • acquisition of Office Management
    • divestment of Hööks Hästsport

  • Trill Impact on its acquisition of Nordomatic from Adelis Equity
  • Safe Life, a European and North American leader in AEDs and training, on its acquisition of Coro Medical LLC, including the investment by Swedbank Robur Private Equity and several other institutional investors
  • A.P. - Moller Maersk on its acquisition of KGH Customs Services from Bridgepoint
  • Dun & Bradstreet on its USD 807 million acquisition of Bisnode from Ratos and Bonnier
