Biography

Isabell Marie Guntermann is an associate in Baker McKenzie’s Berlin office and a Specialist Lawyer for Employment Law (Fachanwältin für Arbeitsrecht). Before joining the Firm in late 2023, she practiced at another international law firm, where she gained extensive experience in litigation. Isabell advises domestic and international employers on all aspects of individual and collective employment law. A particular focus of her practice is supporting companies in the digital transformation of the workplace. Isabell completed her legal traineeship in the jurisdiction of the Higher Regional Court of Hamm and passed her assessor exam in 2022. Prior to that, she studied law and economics at the Universities of Münster and Aix-en-Provence.

She is also a member of the American Chamber of Commerce Germany’s Next Generation Cohorts 2026 and 2027.

Practice Focus

Isabell is a member of the Local Practice Labor, Employment & Employee Benefits and the Primary Global Practice Employment & Compensation. She advises companies on all labor and employment law related matters and represents companies in labor court proceedings in Germany. She also counsels companies on mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations and works council issues.

A particular focus of Isabell’s practice is advising employers on the introduction and use of artificial intelligence and other digital HR technologies in the workplace. She regularly supports clients in negotiations with works councils regarding the implementation of AI systems and related co-determination matters.
