
Łukasz Drwięga
Biography
Łukasz Drwięga is an advocate and associate at Baker McKenzie's Warsaw office. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow and in finance from the Warsaw School of Economics. Prior to his experience at Baker McKenzie, Łukasz worked at an investment fund company. He joined Baker McKenzie in 2019 and gained experience in the M&A and real estate teams, ultimately becoming a member of the dispute resolution team. Łukasz combines his knowledge of the law with a deep profound interest in the business details of clients' matters, his financial background and proficient mathematical skills.
Practice Focus
Łukasz advises and represents clients in commercial litigation, administered expert proceedings and arbitration, both domestically and cross-border. He often participates in injunction and enforcement proceedings with success. Łukasz is a specialist in contract law, especially in cases concerning highly complex contractual relationships. His practice mainly focuses on post-transactional, insurance, banking and commercial disputes. A particular area of his specialization includes all kinds of proceedings based on financial expert opinions.

- Represented two top international insurance companies before Polish courts in two proceedings for D&O claims.
- Represented a European multi-energy holding in three cross-border arbitration proceedings before the ICC, concerning a multidimensional post-M&A dispute of a value exceeding half a billion PLN.
- Represented a European company before Polish court in cross-border litigation concerning the termination of an over a dozen million EUR loan contract governed by foreign law.
- Represented a Polish private entrepreneur and their investment fund in two arbitration proceedings and an expert proceedings administered by the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris, concerning claims arising from the sale of shares worth almost PLN 300 million.
- Represented a major manufacturer of power boilers in a dispute with a general contractor. The dispute concerned a delay in completing the contract, work defects of the works, contractual penalties and a bank guarantee.
- Advised a consortium of banks on claims under an LMA financing agreement.
- Represented four banks in disputes concerning mass consumer claims relating to foreign currency indexed and denominated loans.
- Represented clients in other disputes for payment on the grounds of agency agreements, service contracts and leases.
