Biography

Jorge Chiang is an associate at Estudio Echecopar and a member of the Banking, Finance and Capital Markets groups. He has a law degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.

Practice Focus

Jorge advises domestic and foreign companies on financial law, capital markets, corporate finance and financial derivatives.

He has a solid knowledge of financial regulations and experience in complex transactions related to corporate finance, including local and international financing and derivative transactions.

He also has experience advising on corporate matters and contractual aspects in general.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Advising the International Swaps and Derivatives Association and various national and international financial institutions on financial derivatives matters.
  • Part of the team that advised Scotiabank Perú S.A.A. and Banco de Crédito del Perú as joint lead arrangers and bookrunners in connection with the amendments to a credit facility, under English law, through which the revolving credit facility granted to Gold Fields La Cima S.A. for up to USD 85 million was renewed.
  • Part of the team that advised Termoselva S.R.L., as borrower, and Aguaytía Energy del Perú S.R.L., as guarantor, in connection with a short-term financing granted by Banco de Crédito del Perú in the amount of USD 10.8 million.
  • Part of the team that advised IBT Group on the refinancing and increase of the loan granted by Macquarie Bank Limited and other parties to finance the provision of health services with respect to the hospitals operated by Villa María del Triunfo S.A.C. and Callao Salud S.A.C.
  • Part of the team that advised Banco Internacional del Perú S.A.A. (Interbank) in connection with the execution of a financial lease transaction for USD 16.52 million in favor of La Arena S.A. with the participation of Shahuindo S.A.C. as assignee.
  • Part of the team that advised Banco Internacional del Perú S.A.A. (Interbank), Banco BBVA Perú (BBVA) and Corporación Interamericana de Inversiones (BID Invest) on a USD 160 million financing granted to Agrícola Cerro Prieto (one of Peru's most important agro-exporters), Qali Fruits and Cerro Prieto Colombia.
