Biography

Blaire Cahn is a partner in Baker McKenzie's Global Restructuring & Insolvency Group based in the Firm's New York office.

Practice Focus

Blaire's practice covers all areas of domestic and international restructurings. She has represented a range of distressed companies, creditors, and companies seeking to acquire distressed assets in both in-court and out-of-court restructurings. She has advised companies on the development and implementation of corporate restructuring strategies and has litigated disputes before bankruptcy and appellate courts. Blaire's practice focuses on business reorganizations and corporate restructuring. She represents distressed companies and creditors of distressed companies, including private equity funds, hedge funds and investment banks. Her experience spans a variety of industries including automotive, education, financial services, healthcare, oil and gas, real estate, retail, technology, and transportation.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Blaire's debtor representations include: BearingPoint, CHC Group, Deb Shops, General Growth Properties, Paragon Offshore, Pilgrim's Pride Corporation, The Sharper Image Corporation (TSIC), and Washington Mutual. Blaire also completed a number of out-of-court restructurings, including for a technology-enabled healthcare company.

  • She also has represented creditors and other parties in a number of high-profile bankruptcy cases, including: Davidson Kempner in Arcapita Bank chapter 11 cases; MB Global in Dura Automotive chapter 11 cases; Goldman Sachs in Ener1 chapter 11 cases; Apple in GT Advanced Technologies chapter 11 cases; senior noteholder group (and DIP lenders) in KV Pharmaceutical chapter 11 cases; Barclays Bank in Seadrill Limited chapter 11 cases; the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in Sun Edison chapter 11 cases; Citibank as agent for the first lien lenders in Vanguard Natural Resource chapter 11 cases; MB Global in Zohar III chapter 11 cases; and Pizza Hut in various restructuring matters.
