
Tim Alferink
Biography
Tim Alferink is a partner within the Financial Services & Regulation team in the Amsterdam Banking & Finance practice with over 20 years of experience. He focuses on financial markets regulations, financial products and financial markets transactions. Tim primarily works for financial institutions, ranging from international financial conglomerates to fintech start-ups. In his practice, Tim benefits from his broad experience as attorney-at-law, in-house legal counsel and Big Four legal consultant.
Practice Focus
Tim Alferink is a financial regulatory lawyer with a thorough knowledge of financial markets regulations. He advises all types of financial institutions and other clients active in the regulated space on a broad range of financial regulatory topics, covering the entire regulatory spectrum ranging from prudential requirements and operational requirements to investor protection and market conduct requirements.
In addition to the financial regulatory practice, Tim also has extensive experience in financial markets transactions, including debt and equity capital markets transactions, corporate finance transactions and loan finance transactions. Tim regularly works for issuers and investment banks in capital markets transactions and advises borrowers as well as lenders on loan financing.

Based on this registration, he/she is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.

Representative Legal Matters
- Assisted various entities to obtain licenses from the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets, including MiFID II investment firms, (mortgage) credit providers and managers of alternative investment funds (AIFM)
- Assisted an IsureTech company in establishing its European operations and otaining an insurance license from the Dutch Central Bank
- Assisted various e-commerce companies on establishing its European operations and otaining an payment services (PSD2) license from the Dutch Central Bank
- Advised various international clients with regard to the European regulatory regimes, including advice on PSD II, MiFID II, MAR and EMIR, as well as on preparation and application for regulatory licenses with the Dutch Central Bank and Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets
- Advised a major international banking group on the implementation of MiFID II
- Lead the legal implementation of the Market Abuse Regulation within the corporate banking department of an international bank
- Advised the sponsors and issuer on the listing of New Amsterdam Invest N.V. on Euronext Amsterdam
- Advised Joh. Berenberg, Gossler & Co. KG on MotorK IPO and listing on Euronext Amsterdam
- Advised issuers as well as underwriters in IPOs on Euronext Amsterdam and foreign stock exchanges
- Advised Bravofly Rumbo Group on its listing on the SIX Swiss Exchange
