Biography

Mohamed Abdelhalim is a Capital market counsel in Helmy, Hamza & Partners, Baker McKenzie Cairo. With more than 15 years of experience, Mohamed has worked on numerous initial public offerings (IPOs), issuance of bonds and sukkuk, securitization, capital increases, and other corporate and capital markets transactions of listed companies. He was also a member in the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority. Mohamed has received his Bachelor Degree from Faculty of Commerce Ain Shams in 2003 and is currently enrolled for LLB from the Cairo University where he graduated in 2023 and got admitted to the Egyptian bar association in the same year.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Acted as a local counsel for Fairfax Financial Holding in connection with an indirect acquisition on 4 insurance companies in Egypt and MTO applicant on one of the 4 companies with a deal value amounting to USD 800 billion. 
  • Acting for Edita Food Industries S.A.E in connection with disposing of treasury shares by way of capital reduction.

Prior to joining the firm, Mohamed has worked on the following matters:

  • Acted for Egyptian Iron Steel Company (EISC) an affiliate of Metallurgical Industries Holding Co. in connection with its demerger plan to pin-out mining and quarrying business from its other activities.
  • Acted for GlaxoSmith Kline Plc in connection with a contemplated Mandatory Tender Offer (MTO).
  • Acted for Heliopolis Company for housing and development in connection with capital increase.
  • Acted for Unilever Plc in connection with its five companies' merger, including Personal Care, Home Care, Lipton, Knorr and Unilever International UI.
